Yarn Christmas trees

Looking for something fun and pretty much
inexpensive to make? How about these yarn
Christmas trees? I found this pattern on the
Berroco website. But last year there was a
vendor at a craft show that had these for sale.
It was one of those "I can make it myself" for a
lot less things. I know...I hate when people would
do it to me, but come on, if you have a stash of
yarn like I do, it seems ludicrous to buy one.

I love them in the white fibers.

A Christmas Annie

I've put up my beads for a while and dragged out my sewing
machine. I'm thinking of Christmas and using up my stash
of materials. I got this really cute pattern from an Etsy shop
called bowlsnannies . De is the designer and she makes the
sweetest dolls and offers the patterns for sale.
So I got the one below:

Cyndy Ann...
Isn't she just the sweetest thing? How can you not want one?
Another favorite of mine is this little one, My Annie:

I love her pink hair! It's so sweet. like cotton candy.
So, I have most of the stuff I need, except in all my HUGE stash
of yarn, can you believe that I have NOTHING that could
serve for hair? So I thought I would go to town and check out
the new yarn shop. Needle in a Haystack, keep it local like
I should. It's really a nice shop and the people are so helpful.
I found two patterns that I had to have. Felted slippers like the
flip flops you wear around the swimming pool.
(Remember... warm sunny days:0)
And a pattern for a sweet pair of baby booties.
And yes, I found the two perfect yarns for hair on the Annies.

These are the best colors. But I had a bit of sticker shock when I
paid for the two. Oh well, it's for the Annies....

Fun Saturday Stuff

There's a bead show in Grand Rapids today. I thought
about going last night, but by this morning I talked
myself out of it. I have lots of stuff around the house
and yard that needs to be taken care of and since the
weather is so nice this is the perfect weekend to do it.
So with that being said, I sat down on the computer and
that's where I still am! I subscribe to Lion Brand Yarn Co.
This month they have the cutest Halloween projects for
the crocheter. (that could be me).

Halloween masks! How cute are these?

Then they had all kinds of candies you could make up.
How thrilled do you think the kids would be to get these?
That's what I thought, not too many, but the Mom's would
love it. I see tricks for the people who give these out!
They are "sweet"...hahaha...anyway.

Then they had bags to crochet and felt. I can relate
to the bags. I don't think I'd carry one around, but
I thought these were cute too. So if you want to look
at something fun, go to Lion Brand. I'm gonna get a
Red Bull, drink it and get outside.....;^)
Red Bull it gives you wings...........

Needle in a Haystack

Well, I think this store will be a little easier than that to find.
Finally, we got our own little yarn store. I haven't visited it
yet, but from the looks of their website, its pretty nice. Maybe
after all the summer crowds leaves I'll stop by. Old SH is growing
by leaps and bounds, we now have a quilt shop, bead store and
yarn shop. Wahoo!

I can't hardly believe that its already Labor Day weekend. This is
our last fun fling of the summer. The annual Arts and Crafts Fair
is this weekend. Bev and I used to do that show every year. Some
times I miss it, sometimes not. We had some good laughs though.
Speaking of Bev. .. I put my Momma on a plane last week so she
could be with Bev while she was healing. But it might be that they
will be coming home. They are making plans, depending on what
Gustav does in the Gulf the next couple of days. I doubt the thing
is just gonna fade away, but pray it doesn't turn into some kind
of monster. Those poor people down there aren't recovered from
Katrina.

Treasures and a First for Me

Some of the things I got from Fiber Fest yesterday. Roving for felting.
Kayla and I are needle felting dogs. I know these aren't dog colors,
but aren't they beautiful? Her idea for the dogs, sounded like fun to me.
So we got new foam for her and myself. I didn't realize that foam
could disintegrate like it does. Turns into dust. From light?
Otherwise how can things last any length of time?
Like pillows with forms, etc?

Found some beautiful chenille. Enough for a scarf or maybe two,
depending on what I want to make. I see it used in a kumihimo braid.

And looky here! I am making my first sweater ever. A cardigan for
my baby Brother's first baby. So far so good. If I start now I should
have it done by Christmas which is about the time it's due. So far the
hardest part was converting centimeters into inches. Thank goodness
there's Googles!
I got three good sized eggplants from my garden this week. Eggplant
Parmesans for supper tonight...yummo! Geary better get home soon or
I'm starting without him. My tomatoes are riping fast and I've been
making my favorite salad...Cherry tomatoes, sliced onions, and
black olives covered with Zesty Italian and fresh cut up mozzarella
thrown on top. See Ya!

Jacquard Dyes

I got my dyes, and some natural colored yarn from
MarrHaven. Bought my hot plates the day before.
Last year I hit the antique shops and got all the pots
I could find. I am ready to go! And Geary was hoping
it would be just a passing phase....he should know me
better by now!
