Last of the Halloween Treats

This is my Aunt Dixie. Talent runs in family and she is proof of

that. She's a knitter and quilter and loves all kinds of decorating

crafty stuff.

She made this wreath out of different 1/4 yard Halloween themed

materials that she cut with pinking shears. Cut 9 x 9 squares from

the quarters. Then you put a Tootsie Roll Pop in the center and tie

with yarn or raffia...whatever you prefer. Using a wreath

(grapevine, straw, wire)...Dixie used grapevine.

You just stick them in the wreath, arrange the colors the way you

like and there you have it! Add a pretty bow. A perfect party

decoration for the little kiddies! Its edible if you want to tell them.

Or you can just hang it on your door and stash it away for the next

Halloween. I thought it was great and so very colorful...just the

way I like things. I should say Dix didn't come up with the idea on

her own, she said she found it in a magazine...one of the Women

ones that I never read. I did take a sucker out of it. You just

rearrange the suckers so people won't see the holes...

Happy Halloween

I made this set last year for my self. I love the little pendants that

Penny Mitchell makes with Joan Miller's porcelain beads. Any hoo,

its feeling like Halloween...of course, its suppose to snow today.

Yesterday the wind blew most of the leaves out of the yard...Geary

appreciates that! I'm waiting for the Charlie Brown show to come

on this week..."It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" is one of my

favorites. Of course there are all the scary movies and ghost stories.

All in fun...

Halloween Party Mix Recipe

I found this recipe in a Taste of Home magazine. Its easy to make
and lots of fun to eat. A good card party snack. So I thought I
would share the fun food with you all. Enjoy!!
1 pkg. (11 oz) pretzels
1 pkg.(10-1/2 oz) miniature peanut butter filled
butter flavored crackers
1 cup dry roasted peanuts
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup butter or margarine
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 pkg (10 oz) M &M's
1 pkg (18-1/2 oz) candy corn
In a large bowl, combine pretzels, crackers, and peanuts.
In a large saucepan, combine sugar, butter, and corn syrup.
Bring to a boil over medium heat; boil for 5 minutes. Remove
from heat; stir in vanilla and baking soda (mixture will foam).
Pour over pretzel mixture and stir until coated.
Pour into a greased 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. baking pan.
Bake at 250 degrees for 45 minutes, stirring every 10-15 mins.
Break apart while warm. Toss with M & M's and candy corn.
Cool completely. Store in airtight containers. Yield: 16 cups.

I was in a hurry earlier and didn't finish my post...the party was
starting without me! And we did have a great time!

Fun Saturday Stuff

There's a bead show in Grand Rapids today. I thought
about going last night, but by this morning I talked
myself out of it. I have lots of stuff around the house
and yard that needs to be taken care of and since the
weather is so nice this is the perfect weekend to do it.
So with that being said, I sat down on the computer and
that's where I still am! I subscribe to Lion Brand Yarn Co.
This month they have the cutest Halloween projects for
the crocheter. (that could be me).

Then they had all kinds of candies you could make up.
How thrilled do you think the kids would be to get these?
That's what I thought, not too many, but the Mom's would
love it. I see tricks for the people who give these out!
They are "sweet"...hahaha...anyway.

Then they had bags to crochet and felt. I can relate
to the bags. I don't think I'd carry one around, but
I thought these were cute too. So if you want to look
at something fun, go to Lion Brand. I'm gonna get a
Red Bull, drink it and get outside.....;^)

The wonder of it all.....

Fall Rummage Sale. It got here faster than I expected. One fun
filled, rummage packed week, that I and lots of my friends and
family spend sorting, pricing and selling stuff at church. I always
am amazed that I can do this thing...or should I say blessed?
It isn't me that gets it done, by Friday I am about ready to fall down.
The girls (I call them my posse, I don't think they know it) keep me
going. Oh the wonder of it all........

But I do have things to look forward to. Saturday is the Chapel Hill

Craft Show. I love walking around that one. Lots of great crafty

stuff to look at, especially handcrafted seasonal things...Halloween
stuff is just plain fun. I bought my pumpkins and gourds for
decorating around the outside of my house. My mums are huge
and full of flowers, I got this hanging mum yesterday that is just
beautiful. I'd take a picture today, but its cloudy. So I'll leave you
with a picture of apples, cause this was the coolest display. Last
year at Caesar's Palace. I love apples.....

How's this for a Halloween sky? Its kind of creepy

the way those bright lights showed up in the picture.

One of my favorite shows to watch is Ghosthunters.

Its a team of people that go to places to try and prove

or disprove the presence of ghosts. I, for one don't see

why there couldn't be. Lots of peoples lives are cut

tragically short and I think they stay behind to find

an answer or get shown the way to the ever after.

Anyway the 'orbs' could be either dust or energy...

but in my case I know they really are raindrops...!

At least I know it was sprinkling at the time.....

Trick or Treat!

I treated myself to a wonderful bead

from Joan Miller and Penny Michelle.

Those two have gotten together and created

some really great art beads. I had seen their

booth at the Bead and Button show, but it

was so full of beautiful things that I couldn't

make up my mind, so I just walked away.

How ridiculous is that? So last week I got

this wonderful Halloween bead and I spent

this week making a spiral rope with a

green center and matte black seedbeads.

I threw in a few orange ones for good

measure and added color. I bought two

pumpkin beads and made a pair of earrings.
