Gosslings

Look how my little babies have grown! All of a sudden they
look more like the parents than the little things they once were.
We have enjoyed watching them sprout up.
It's just about time for the Bead and Button Show! Wahoo!
Beverly and I are gonna have the best time. Only sad thing is
that as soon as we get home from the show Bev and Mom will
be leaving for Louisiana. Bailey will miss Cricket too. But there
might be a companion for her in the future. Someone has a
Schnauzer that they can't keep for personal reasons and I'm
gonna see how it might fit in with our family. Keeping my
fingers crossed that things will work out.
So that is pretty much what's going on in my world. I am still
healing from the fall I took 2 weeks ago. I think I chipped
the bone in my shin. I had to go to the Doctors, because I
developed an infection in my leg. For a week I had to keep
it elevated and take a heavy dose of antibiotics. It still
swells by nighttime and aches like a son of a gun. How did
I fall you ask? Don't ride your Mother's walker down her
ramp if you can't keep it upright. Although it wasn't entirely
my fault...how did I know there was a hole at the bottom and
when the wheel hit it I would fly over the top? But I didn't
crash into her car! I'm just thankful that it wasn't worse...
NOT! I felt like an idiot. I was an idiot.....lol!

Welcome to the World

Geary got some good shots of the new babies.
If you want to see more just go to my Flickr page
and take a look at them. Only a day or two old.
They are so sweet!

I feel like a Grandma!

Happy Mother's Day! I was so happy to wake up and
find that the geese have hatched their babies.
We have 5 little goslings following Mom and Dad
around the pond. So sweet. The little guys have a lot of
obstacles to overcome. Snapping turtles, a hawk,
a pike and who knows what else eats them. Soon as I
can get close I'll get some photos.

The first of the month was our church's annual spring
rummage and bake sale. I think I mentioned at one
time that we do it twice a year. I'm the one in charge
of getting it together, but I have the best group of ladies
that help me. Although they told me there was a method
to their madness too, nobody wants to be in charge!
Its a whole week of craziness that we do twice a year. We
sold just about every thing this year. What we didn't sell
went to the Mission for them to sell. All I have to say is,
I could see what a couch potato I was this winter...it
just about killed me.
Other than that I'm still playing with clay, knitting prayer
shawls, and this weekend I am planting my flowers. I think
its safe to say that we won't get a freeze. Knock on wood.
My sister Beverly is coming up from New Orleans this week.
We have lots of beady things planned...some new projects
using fibers, a trip to Milwaukee to the Bead and Button Show.
She's staying for about 3 weeks. Yahoo!!
Have a blessed Mother's Day!

Canadian Geese

Love, love, love!

Our geese are back for the third year. Its such a pleasure
to watch the two of them. They've taken over the pond,
the male won't let anything get in the water for less than
a minute and then its feathers flying everywhere! She has
a nest under the oak tree...sits most of the day. The male
sits under a tree directly across from her and watches
everything.

This is the nest, its hard to tell how many eggs she has,
but I could see one for sure. Someone told me they can
have 2 to 3 eggs. I'm hoping they survive this year. The
first year nothing happened. Second year there was one,
but I only saw it once and it was gone. This year we have
a hawk that hangs out...I didn't even put out the bird
feeders, cause that would be too much like a buffet for the
hawk! Then there are the raccoons, a fox, a skunk, and an
owl to get past. Oh, and a snapping turtle or two. (We do try to
get them out of the pond...I'd be really po'd if it got my dog).
How sad is that?
