Will the real Venus please stand up?

This month's theme over at the Art Bead Scene is the
Birth of Venus. It's a beautiful beautiful painting by
Sandro Botticelli, c. 1482–1486. Since I don't have
my entry quite done yet I thought I would treat you to
something I've been saving for just the right time, when I
don't seem to have much going on.
There's an earlier version of the Venus,
The Venus ( or woman)of Willendorf:
She was created between 24,000 BCE – 22,000 BCE.
If you want to read a little more about her go to
Wickipedia. Because the other Venus I have to show
you is the one created by me in a lamp work class at
the Bead and Button show a long time ago.
After you look at this you'll understand why flame
and sculptural glass are not the thing for me to do!

Venus of Willendorf (above)
I present to you my version of the Venus:
Backside

Profile. Isn't she a hoot? Those aren't eyes on top
of her head. Somehow her lips ate her eyes... No
comments are necessary, I'll wrap her back up
and put her away. Tomorrow I'll show my entry for
the Art Bead Scene...its much prettier!

Beautiful Bead

Isn't this a beauty? I absolutely fell in love with it, then
I bought it. Kristin Child is the lamp work artist. Her
Etsy shop is redsidedesign. And she's having a sale,
25% off on her beads. The pictures do not do justice to
the bead. This is so yummy and I'm keeping it for myself.
And since I'm keeping with the theme of hearts lately,
here's one Kristin has for sale too.
Hmmm...theme of hearts - Queen of Hearts...
Queen of everything...don't I wish!

Show and Tell

They're here! The rest of my Humblebead's order came today. I just
love this new Kiss design! But I'm kinda mad, cause now I see she
has the disk beads for these! Sheesh....is there a prize for the one
with the most Humblebead beads? Cause I'm probably the winner
if there is. Really Heather, I'm just pulling your leg about the being
mad part. Speaking of Humblebeads, this is the night for
Bead Art Originals trunk show TONIGHT starting at 7pm (EST)!
Read all about it here: http://beadartoriginals.blogspot.com.
Giving away door prizes during the open house. Stop by and see
what's going on.

I also got this beautiful set of lampwork beads from Robert and
Moon Stumpp from MixedMediaJewelry. It's such a large set of
beads for a very reasonable price. There are sets up for sale now
that they call Pendleton Beads, and they are all the colors of the
beautiful Pendleton blankets (my favorite catalog to look at).
Another series that I like too is named Curmudgeons. Its all about
color and these beads have it. I'm drawn to color like a moth to
a flame! Nice stuff. Now I'm off to get ready for the trunk show...

Love, love, love

I love these beads! Betty Hanssen is the artist. First time I saw these,
it was a set about double what is shown here. It was on Ebay and it
sold for hundreds of dollars. This set is still a little pricey, but
it doesn't make them any less beautiful. I love glass acorns, and leaves,
and....One of these days I'm gonna find my set of beads that I made.
You'll see why I didn't pursue lamp working. But you'll love my goddess.
She looks more like the Venus of Willendorf....need I say more?
Whenever I try to learn a different form of art, I love to save
the first item I make. It's good for laughs down the road.
I survived the first day of the rummage sale! One down, three and a half
to go. I found a set of Mexican Train dominoes, has a station that makes
a train sound and sparkly trains...the super deluxe model! And now
its mine...bwahahahaha! OK, if you don't know what Mexican Train is
you won't understand, but if you want a winter game to play its fun.

Winner, winner, fish for dinner!

I purchased this fish from Cathy at Aardvark Art Glass.
Little did I know, but I was her 100th sale on her Etsy shop.
So I got this little surprise fish (red fins). How cute is that?
She makes the sweetest fish and the strangest (in a good way)
faces and masks. I read her blog all the time...she makes
me laugh a lot. I have a great idea for these guys. My summer
jewelry is looking great! Thanks Cathy!

Aardvark Art Glass

I love color, anything that has lots of colors draw
me in like a magnet. Aardvark Art Glass is just
one of those things that attract me. I just love looking
at the crazy beads they make. Maybe its my alter ego
that is being attracted. Whatever it is,
one of these days I will have to have one of these....
