My Beautiful Bailey is Gone.

Geary and I sure never saw this one coming. Our sweet
Bailey passed away this morning from complications with
medicines and a Pancreatic condition. She died at the Vet's,
poor Dr. Martens had to tell me, I don't know which could be
harder...the giver of bad news or the receiver. They gave
her a bath and wrapped her in towels so we could bring her
home. I brushed her coat for the last time, rubbed her ears
and kissed her little head. We wrapped her in a soft fleece
blanket and I sewed the seams around her. Geary found a
spot in the field by the barn, in the shade of a tree and we
buried her there. That's where she always went to explore,
and eat the bugs or roll in turkey poop. There will never
be another one like her, she was everything to us.
I'm going to miss her so. My heart just aches.

  5. Oh Rosanne, I am sooo sorry to hear of this loss!! Tears are flowing down my cheeks and I'm sending you a big hug!! It is soo hard to lose them, I know. Just last year I lost Ninive, my sweet little cat and I am not over it yet. Take care of yourself...

  6. I really am so sorry for your loss - our four-legged family members are just as special as the two-legged variety. Be sure to remember all of the happy and fun times (like her rolling in turkey poop...).

Maybe get a marker or something for where you buried her? We cremated our cat that died earlier this year and have her ashes in a special urn that Thomas picked out (she was definitely his cat...)...

  11. Rosanne, I'm so very sorry for your loss. I'm not sure if suddenness is a blessing as you didn't have to see her suffer, or a curse because you didn't have a chance to prepare. She was lucky to have such a loving home and I'm sure you'll be missing her for a long time.

  14. It is hard to type through my tears. Our animals are like our children. Yesterday my husband noticed some gray hairs on Donnie's chin (our Manchester Terrier) and he said, "I don't want Donnie to get old." Mind you, he's only 4 y/o and we hope to have many more years with him. I still have not been able to read "Marley and Me,"which was given to me as a gift, or see the movie and our dearly beloved Yellow Lab died 10 years ago. They never leave our hearts.

  17. Oh Rosanne! I am crying as I write this. I'm so sorry to hear of Bailey's passing. I too have a female Schnauzer named Bailey. She just turned 5 and is the queen of our home.

I'm sending you thoughts of comfort and knowing she's at peace now. She's just beautiful!!!

  18. Thank you everyone again for your kind words and prayers. Bailey was a great joy to us and she can't be replaced, but we are planning on another Schnauzer in our future. We're thinking we will adopt a rescued one this time. Its a thought...there's no hurry :(

  20. I am so sorry for your loss, I am sitting next to my schnauzer right now and would be lost without him. Dogs are like children and they have emotions and needs. They are a little blessing in our lives.
