Tannenbaums and Elf Shelves

Trying to put up the Christmas tree. That is gonna be a slow process.
seeing how my back has been out for over a week now. We did bring
it in and sat it up, this is the second year using a fake one that I said I
would never do. But this has all the lights on it already and looks
pretty close to the real thing. It just doesn't smell like pine, but I can
burn a candle or two if I want. While I was putting on some of the
ornaments I remembered these little boxes I bought last year. I got
them to put in the branches of the tree that had openings. Good
old Martha Stewart calls them "Elf Shelves". What a clever idea.
I know Martha can't possibly come up with all these ideas on her own,
if she does she's one smart ass bitch and deserves to be a billionaire.
Don't get me wrong, I was Martha wanna be at one time...
way to stressful for me. But I do watch her show and I love her
website and yes, once in a while I'll get a magazine. So off I go to
put ornaments on one bough at a time;^}

Oh, the weather outside is frightful

But the fire is so delightful,
And since we’ve no place to go,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...

Now its really feeling like the season is upon us!
Lots of snow today.
Once the old Thanksgiving turkey carcass is thrown out
the door, its time to think of Christmas.
I love this time of year. I love the lights, the trees,
pulling out my Christmas decorations.
I love going to Church and listening about
the birth of Christ...I'll never be tired of that story.
Hanging of the greens, the beautiful songs.
I love that warm feeling in my chest and the tears
I get in my eyes when I hear "Oh, Holy Night" or "Ave Maria".
I love the parties, getting together with my friends and family.
Is that enough mush for you guys?
I'm feeling warm and fuzzy here...
Tell me what you love best about the Christmas season.
I have a beautiful dove ornament, made par moi,
and I want to give it away. Its very three dimensional,
made from felt, hand sewn and stuffed.

I'll randomly draw a name on Saturday. Merry Christmas, to all!

Yarn Christmas trees

Looking for something fun and pretty much
inexpensive to make? How about these yarn
Christmas trees? I found this pattern on the
Berroco website. But last year there was a
vendor at a craft show that had these for sale.
It was one of those "I can make it myself" for a
lot less things. I know...I hate when people would
do it to me, but come on, if you have a stash of
yarn like I do, it seems ludicrous to buy one.

I love them in the white fibers.

Just in Time for Christmas!

Well here it is...finally! Took me
two days to decorate it, but its done.
Usually I put all my ornaments on, then
I spend the next day rearranging them.
Filling in spaces, making sure there's not
too many of the same kind by each other.
I remember where and when I got each
of the ornaments I have...I especially love
the ones from my children and niece's.
Then I sit back and turn the lights on
and enjoy. It gets really interesting
at night with the lights on, I have
developed the ability (it comes only
to those of us who have aged to a
certain degree) to see "halos" around
lights. Doesn't happen all the time,
just when atmospheric conditions are
right! Makes for great night time
driving fun! SHEESH!!

Tannenbaum, oh Tannenbaum!

Well they finally did it. For the first time ever,
I found a fake tree that doesn't look fake! I swore
that I was a "real" tree person and would never,
never, never buy into a fake one. But last weekend
I found one and talked my husband into buying it.

We were the people that packed the dog in the truck
and threw in the chainsaw (never checking to see if it
worked and half the time it didn't). We would drive
all over the county looking for the cheapest, most
perfect tree. Every year they got sparser, and if
we bought a pre-cut they were anywhere from $25 to
$45 a tree. So the way we figured it, we will have
paid for this in 4 years. No more lights to buy,
as this is wired and ready to go. No water, no needles,
no rashes on my arms from pine needles sticking me.

The only thing that makes me a little sad is that I
won't have that wonderful smell of fresh cut pine.
There was nothing chemical about that smell....
no spray has been made yet as far as I can tell! As
soon as I get her "dressed" I'll have a picture!
